The fountains mingle with the river,
And the rivers with the ocean,
The winds of heaven mix forever
With a sweet emotion:
Nothing in the world is single;
All things by law divine
In one another’s being mingle
Why not I with thine?
– Love’s Philosophy
This poem need not just be about romantic love; it extends beyond that.
Why not stop defining ourselves by the differences we have, and instead identify with the similarities? Why not rid ourselves of (un)conscious bias? Why not just mind our own business and get along?
We all just eat, sleep, and shit anyway.
